Brit Milah at 70

This past week, an emotional and stirring ceremony took place at Laniado, Netanya, Israel’s only Hospital. Dr. Yaakov Ulano, Laniado’s Senior Surgeon, performed a Brit Milah on the oldest new immigrant in Israel to ever be circumcised – 70 year old Mr. Vladimir Printz, who acquired his new Jewish name, “Yishai” at this joyful event.

Rabbi Yehuda Zvi Glantz, Shlita, of Kiryat Sanz, Rabbi of the “Kedoshei Hashoah” Shul in Netanya, was honored as the “Sandak”.

As part of his spiritual duties in Netanya, Rabbi Glantz had been in touch with the Printz Family from the beginning of their Aliyah to Israel.

Among those honored with blessings at the Brit Milah were Rabbi Eliyahu Ilan, Shlita, Chairman of the Religious Unit in the Absorption Department, and various Rabbis from Netanya in the presence of Rabbi C. Y. Schwartz, Posek of Laniado Hospital, as well as family members and many friends.

The grandson of Mr. Yishai Printz gave a touching and poignant speech of thanks noting the “mesiras nefesh” of an elderly Jew, born at the beginning of the Communist Era when it was forbidden to keep Jewish mitzvahs, who now has the emotional strength to perform the mitzvah of Brit Milah.
