As the population of Netanya has drastically grown to nearly 300,000 residents, Laniado, the city’s only hospital, had to continuously expand its medical services. Following Rabbi Halberstam’s creed, Laniado ministers to all the people of Netanya, Jew and Arab, rich or poor alike. Its physicians and nurses all subscribe to a set of principals that place the dignity of all patients first. The medical and nursing staff has never left their patients even when every other medical center in Israel has had doctors and nurses strikes.
As the only medical facility for a catchments area of over 300,000 people, Laniado maintains a huge ambulatory care program in general medicine, pediatrics and women’s health. In addition, its subspecialty clinics provide comprehensive services for the entire city of Netanya.
Besides the hospital’s impeccable Medical and Diagnostic Services, it also includes an award winning School of Nursing with over 200 students, and a newly built 3-story Geriatric Center. The new state-of-the-art CHILDREN OF THE HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL was completed in the summer of 2004.

The superb Diagnostic Services Laniado Hospital offers include state-of-the-art Medical Laboratories; an outstanding Radiology Department complimented by a CT Scan Unit; Nuclear Medicine and Mammography. The Women’s Wellness Center affords the women of Netanya a variety of well-planned diagnostic, therapeutic and educational programs to enhance their health and fitness.
Laniado Hospital’s Emergency Department and Trauma Unit has received numerous citations from the Army’s Home Front Command and the Health Ministry’s Division of Disaster Medicine for its outstanding performance during the recent Intifada. Eighteen terrorist attacks were perpetrated in Netanya during the past 5 years including the Seder Night Massacre. Many of the over 800 terror victims treated at the hospital owe their lives to the dedicated treatment they received from the heroic medical staff of Laniado’s Emergency and Trauma Unit.

Laniado Hospital’s Physicians and Scientists are actively involved in a host of Clinical Research studies designed to improve and discover new methods for treating and preventing disease. Research Papers and Abstracts are regularly presented by our Physicians at many International Medical Conferences and published in leading Medical Journals.
A treatment discovered by 3 Senior Laniado Physicians for West Nile Virus disease has been heralded as the only known cure to date for the neurologic complications of this disease. A report on the discovery appeared in “Emerging Infectious Diseases”, published by the Centers for Disease Control of the National Institute of Health.
